Make It Cozy
Comfort is key when planning a slumber party for adults. None of this sleeping in treehouses or on the hard ground; make sure your guests have a comfy place to sleep and lounge. Provide air mattresses (that don't deflate in the middle of the night), foamies, or even a giant bean bag. Scatter plenty of pillows and cushions around, and encourage everyone to dress for comfort in pjs and cozy slippers.
While good wine and craft beers would be more than welcome at an adult slumber party, make sure to provide plenty of water, juice, iced tea, and other non-alcoholic options so guests don't konk out before the fun has even started.
Offer an array of fun activities to your friends. Set up a game table with cards or Bunko, arrange a selection of movies guaranteed to have you laughing until you cry, organize a dance-off, or get very bold indeed and tempt the fates with a game of truth or dare.
Bring Out the Good Snacks
Snacks are the hallmark of every slumber party, and a grown-up version is no different. While chips and popcorn are slumber party mainstays, give them a grown-up twist by choosing specialty chips and spicing up the popcorn with paprika, powdered sun-dried tomatoes, or a dusting of finely grated Parmesan cheese. Instead of candy bars and gummy bears from the gas station, make decadent dark chocolate fudge dusted with Celtic Sea Salt and homemade port wine gummies.
Even with great food and fun times, nothing can prepare you for the morning after an adult slumber party. Be kind to your bedraggled self and prepare breakfast ahead of time so you don't have to cook when you get up.
A breakfast casserole is always a simple and great idea, but the European style of breakfast is also a good option. Simply prepare a tray of excellent cheeses, cold meats, and bread, and whether your guests stumble out to the kitchen at 6 am or noon, there will be savory goodness awaiting them.
And then try this simple but fun slumber party for adults staple!
Paprika Stove Top Popcorn
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup popcorn kernels
- melted butter
- sea salt
- ground smoked paprika
Preparation:
Heat vegetable oil in large pan over high heat.
When it begins to sizzle, add popcorn kernels and cover immediately. Shake the pan to settle the kernels evenly over the bottom, then wait for the first kernel to pop.
Shake pan regularly to keep popped kernels from burning, and remove from heat when there are 2-3 seconds between pops.
Remove lid and pour popcorn into large bowl. Drizzle with melted butter, sprinkle with sea salt and paprika, and toss well to combine.
Serve warm.
